The birds that stop in the Yalu River wetland are mainly concentrated in the wet and tropical areas such as Australia and New Zealand, and the breeding is in the cold temperate areas near the Arctic, which is the main reason why the birds migrate all year round. In Asia, there are two routes for bird migration, namely East Asia and West Asia. The route of East Asia migration mainly flies through Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Yangtze River Estuary, Shuangtaizi Estuary, Oceanic estuary and Yalu River Estuary, and finally reaches the Greater Khingan Mountains in China, eastern Siberia in Russia and Alaska in the United States.

In the migration process, these birds fly from the wintering ground to here at one time without interruption, the linear distance is about 6500 kilometers, and due to weather and other factors, in fact, the flight distance of birds can reach about 10,000 kilometers, non-stop flight for a week, do not eat or drink without stopping, so it consumes a lot of physical strength. A bird that starts at the wintering ground weighing 500 grams will reach us with half its weight and only 250 grams left. So they have to forage quickly to get back to the weight they had when they left their wintering grounds, which is about a month away.

Through satellite tracking, scientists have tracked the bar-tailed godsha, one of the main water birds, from New Zealand without sleep or food after about eight days of continuous flight of 10,000 kilometers to the Yalu River wetland. After sufficient food and energy, it flew 7,000 kilometers non-stop from the Yalu River to the breeding ground in Alaska in May. At the end of August, after eight days of non-stop flight of more than 11,000 kilometers, Return to New Zealand and complete the round-the-world flight.
